actionable

actionable, defined:

We classify the term, actionable, under the legal element of status of beings and things. The term, actionable, describes something that may serve as the legal basis for a lawsuit.

Example: Fergus, needing a new roof for his house, hired a local contractor to install it. Months after work was completed, Fergus discovered that the roof was installed improperly causing it to leak which in turn damaged the carpets. After talking with his attorney, Fergus felt certain that the contractor’s negligence was actionable and filed a suit to recover his damages.
