premarital agreement


premarital agreement, defined:

a contract, usually formed prior to marriage, which determines the parties rights in matters of property division and support in the event of a divorce (dissolution of marriage). A premarital agreement goes by several different names: antenuptial agreement, prenuptial agreement and premarital agreement.

The wife and husband have a premarital agreement which entitles her to receive, upon the husband's death, the income from his investments.
