An example of promisor:
Fiona's niece, Sheila, is to be married. Sheila contracts with a caterer to provide food service for her wedding reception. The two parties sign a contract detailing the specifics. The caterer, as the promisor, agrees to serve a specific menu at the event on a specific date and time. Sheila in turn, as the promisor, agrees to pay the caterer a set fee upon.
