quasi-contractual remedy

quasi-contractual remedy, defined:
a remedy awarded in the interest of justice. A court may grant a quasi-contractual remedy when two parties have a contract-like relationship without having an actual contract and one party is injured as a result. Two types of quasi-contractual remedy typically awarded are (1) an award for the value of services provided (quantum meruit) and (2) an award for the value of goods delivered (quantum valebant). In such cases the court forms an implied-in-law contract which forms the legal basis for the quasi-contractual remedy.
