rejection

rejection, defined:

a refusal of a contractual offer. A rejection is an act of non-agreement.

rejection, as it might be used:

The insurance contract is not terminated until the insurer has actually rejected the application and by appropriate notice communicated the rejection to the insured.

An example of rejection:

On a daily basis, Ogden receives several unsolicited pieces of mail that appear to be offers for low-rate mortgages. In reality these are not offers but solicitations, inviting Ogden to apply for a mortgage which may or may not result in an actual offer. Because these solicitations are not actual offers, Ogden is not required to communicate a rejection.
