semi-open adoption, defined:

an adoption in which a child's birthparents and pre-adoptive parents exchange largely non-identifying information. After the child is placed in the adoptive home, contact with the birth family may involve letters or pictures or other communications sent through an intermediary or the adoption agency.

The case worker testified that the child was being cared for during the day by the prospective adoptive parents and that the plan would be for a semi-open adoption.
